  hello all, i have been attending meetings for about two months, but have been reading about the truth for a year now.

  our firstborn was on oct 7th, this year ;) however, my wife is in a c.o.g.i.c.

  and because im not as humble as most, i often argue with her about the lies being told in her babylonian church.

  I really don't see any difference in baptizing an infant as some religions do or baptizing children as young as 9 years old as the JWs do.

  Neither child has any understanding what his life is being dedicated to. Jesus was not baptized until he was 30. Sounds about the right age to me.

  We have heard of situations where JWs baptize young children then disfellowship and shun them when they are still young children. The Watchtower Society holds disfellowshipping over each member's head as a threat to obey them completely.

  I attended my cousin's baby's christening the other day. The babtisim of a child is a promise by the parents and godparents to God that they will raise the child up in the doctrin of the church (this one was catholic). Confirmation is done when the child is older confirming that his/her parents have done what they promised to do and that the child accepts this religion as his/her way of life. Not really the same as JW babtism.

  I'm not catholic so please don't ask me more questions. Just telling you what happened.

  why do so many "non witness " jws not bother to find out the "truth"

  my siblings who have left (3/7 last count) have no desire to talk about or hear about much less read about what the deal is witht the org our parents decided would bring them everlasting life.

  it is head shaking to me - and i try not to bring it up at all- but when they ask, or it comes up and they are all freaked out about me being interested in it all i just shake my head.

  even friends i grew up with in the org have no desire to know - they are just not interested.

  My brother faded long before I did, but he doesn't care about finding out the truth about JWs. His ex wife still takes their kids to the meetings and he sees nothing wrong with that! He doesn't want to be a witness but doesn't see anything wrong with the religion. I don't get it.

  The storage of food is fine if you use it at some point. Even canned and dehydrated food have a sell by date. Hope all this emegergency food is not going to waste.

  Oompa, maybe you should get in there once in a while and give away the food that is going to expire!

  i received my copy of barbara andersons cd paedophilia in an american religion a month or two ago, and i have been reading through it since.. what follows, although i have called this a review, is in no sense a scholarly consideration of the legal merits of the cases described, a task for which i am wholly unqualified.

  these are, rather, my subjective reflections on the material presented, the impressions i gathered while reading the legal filings, my untrained, common-man appraisal of the cases laid out in those documents.

  ill also admit to being swayed by tone of voice adopted, and to using my own common-sense yardstick in determining the reasonableness of the statements made, the responses given and the arguments put forward.

  Thank you for your review. It was really eye opening. To me it makes no difference if the lawyers are JW or not. At the end of the day they still represent the client (WBTS). I hope many lurkers have read this post. Maybe one of the mods can move it to the "Best of" section.

  Do you ever get nausea when encountering JW stuff

  i thought after 7 years out i had done a pretty good job of getting my mind free of the jws.. then yesterday i went on youtube and typed in jehovah's witness.

  after watching a few apostate videos, i came across a pro-jw video of a convention.

  as i started the video and they started singing "we thank you jehovah" i got a mega wave of nausea and felt like i had to switch the thing off.. has this happened to you?

  I cannot read any of their articles. I tried to read through the PDF copy of the 2008 WT and I just couldn't do it. I couldn't read past the first few sentences and then my mind seem to refuse to go on. It was the wierdest feeling, I love reading and can usually read just about anything. I wanted to see if there was any "new light". Now I'll have to trust you guys to keep me updated.
